KAHAKULOA

Known for its pleasant temperatures and sweeping ocean views.

Welcome to Kahakuloa

Located on the remote north-east side of the West Maui Mountains the town of Kahakuloa is tucked into a deep valley. The area takes its name from the stunning 600 ft plus cliffs that drop dramatically into the Pacific Ocean. The old fishing village is home to approximately 100 fulltime residents, most of whom are direct descendants of the village’s original inhabitants.

Many of the area’s residents also work here, the coastline is dotted with modest homes and taro fields. Kahakuloa has been occupied by Hawaiian people since approximately 300 B.C. and is easily one of Hawaii’s most remote towns as well as one of the most charming.

Sometimes called the other Upcountry, the area is known for its pleasant temperatures and sweeping ocean views. While it’s rare for homes to come up for sale in the village itself, there are a few of subdivisions in the area including the Cliffs at Kahakuloa and Maluhia Country Ranches. These upscale developments offer privacy, tranquility and stunning views in a rural setting.
